Off With ED's Head!

This is a website dedicated to eating disorder facts and recovery (read: NOT PRO-ED!!!).

Sometimes looking at pictures of ourseleves can bring up intense feelings of body dissatisfaction. Just remember that the way you see yourself in pictures is often colored by the ED baggage that we are carrying. The way we see ourselves isn’t always an accurate reflection of how we ACTUALLY look!

recoveryed asked: Have you ever struggled with an eating disorder? If so, what has helped you?

Hi, I’m sorry that it took me so long to get back to you; I haven’t been on Tumblr in quite a while.  I did struggle with an ED (bulimia and BED).  I worked with both a therapist and a registered dietician for a couple of years.  I was very lucky because the college that I was attending at the time offered both therapist and dietician services free for students.  Both the therapist and dietician that I saw on campus were very knowledgeable about ED’s because (unfortunately) it was a pretty common.  One of the most helpful things in my recovery, however, has been reading.  There are many great books out there about recovering from an eating disorder (some of my favorites are Overcoming Binge Eating by Christopher Fairburn, Eating in the Light of the Moon, French Toast for Breakfast and When Women Stop Hating Their Bodies).  Hope that helps!!
